Jock Inglis, miner, came from Glasgow to the west coast of Tasmania as a 16 year old. His family was originally from the Borders area of Scotland. His first job was in a railway construction gang. By 1935 he was working full-time for the Mount Lyell Company at the Comstock Mine primarily winch driving and shaft sinking. He was an amateur boxer and enjoyed gold prospecting. He married Margaret Elizabeth Hosking who was born on 8 July 1918. They lived at Queenstown before retiring to Strahan about 1977.
