On January 16th 1882 a meeting was held in Launceston, where it was resolved to form "... a club for the association of gentlemen residents in Northern Tasmania to be called the Launceston Club". Originally situated in Brisbane Street, the Club later moved to premises in Tamar Street in 1926. Ladies were admitted as members in August 2001.
