Leonard John (Joe) Stephenson was born at Exeter, Tasmania, on 18 June 1910, the eldest child of Leonard John Stephenson (1884-1971) and his wife Amy, nee Williams. Leonard junior was a carrier at Exeter on the West Tamar. He married Mary and had four children. He died in 1990 and was buried at the Beaconsfield General Cemetery.
