Soroptimism, from the words 'soror' (sister) and 'optima' (best) is an international organisation of professional and business women. The objects of the organisation include ethical behaviour, striving for human rights, advancing the status of women, and developing a spirit of friendship and service. ;;Chartered as 'Circular Head' club on 14 October 1989, the minutes of meetings suggests that this club began as Soroptimist International of Smithton with its first meeting on 13 March 1989.;;The Circular Head SI Club undertakes a wide range of fundraising activities, with funds distributed to local charities/organisations. They also run social activities and hold regular club meetings.
