7HT was Hobart's second commercial radio station and was launched by Metropolitan Broadcasters Pty Ltd on 10 April 1937. Its transmitter mast was erected on Rosny Hill (later moved to Howrah) and its first studio was at "Cleburne House" at 51 Murray Street. In 1942 it moved to 141 Elizabeth Street situated with McCann's Music (Bernard McCann was Chairman of Directors of Metropolitan Broadcasters - 7HT).;;7HT and its older rival 7HO (established 1930) were the only commercial radio stations in Hobart until 1990 and both participated in community events and service. In the early 1990s 7HT became a racing station with the new branding 7TAB, before converting to 101.3 FM in 1998.;;
