Aleck was bon in Creswick, Victoria in 1904. The Scott family had settled in the area in the mid 1850's.. Aleck attended Creswick State School and LAter Ballarat High School. After completinghis formal education he took an apprenticeship as a carpenter, an occupation which he pursued for much of his adult life. In the mid 20s Aleck and his family moved to Mildura and a few years after he undertook this trip to Tasmania writing a diary and taking many photographs. The album was given to his widow in 1990 and its present whereabouts in unknown.. An interest in motor cars and an accident to his left arm led to him to move from Carpentry to building motor vehicle frames. Aleck married Nell Watson in 1947 and shortly after moved to Melbourne and continued to make motor vehicle frames. Aleck died in 1975 and was survived by his widow, Nell, who lived until the age of 99 years.
