Description:
The Colour Circle is an amateur art group that was established in 1967 by Rosamond McCulloch, artist and teacher at the Hobart Technical College Art School (later Tasmanian Art School).;;The Colour Circle's objectives have been to encourage and develop the study and understanding of art amongst its members; encourage fellowship between members; and promote a greater interest and appreciation of art in the community. Members have painted together, attended workshops and classes with specialist tutors and exhibited works.;;The Circle met in various premises until 1971 when a legacy from Mcculloch enabled the group to purchase the property at 13 Colville Street, Battery Point for use as a studio and meeting place. It was known as the "R. A. V. McCulloch Studios." After a time the premises had to be sold but the group was still able to meet there for several years more. In 2001 the Circle moved to Hobart City Council premises at Mt Nelson.;;
