Alexander George Webster was a merchant who ran the successful agricultural company Webster and Sons (various names). He was born in 1830 and arrived in Van Diemen's Land in 1840.;;He married Louisa Turnley in 1859. They had 8 children - George (1860), Charles (1861), Edwin (1864), Arthur (1863), Emily (1866), Eric (1867), Florence (1868) and Blanche (1870 d. 1871).;;Alexander George was also a painter. He was active in the community occupying various roles, some of which included Master Warden of the Hobart Marine Board, Trustee of the Tasmanian Museum and Botanical Gardens and American Consul. He died in 1914 and Louisa died in 1908.;;Three of his sons went into the Webster business (George became a doctor and Eric a Surveyor).;;Charles and Edwin became heavily involved in the business from an early age. Arthur worked for the Tasmanian Steam Navigation Company, then in pursuits in Victoria and Queensland before returning to Tasmania to take up farming and grazing activities and to head the property section of the Webster business.;;Arthur married Mary Stanfield in 1893. They had 6 children Alice (1894), Helen (1896), Alexander (1897), Edith (1899), Douglas (1906) and William (1908). ;;William married Ruth Burrowes in 1938. William died in 1979 and Ruth in 2013. ;;This agency registration of the large number of descendants of Alexander George has been written to reflect the provenance of the series for which they are the creators/collectors. This explains why some of the descendants and their families have only very basic details recorded.;;;;;;
