Description:
Andrew Bent (1790-1851), printer and newspaper proprietor, left Van Diemen's Land for New South Wales in 1839. After fire, flood, and a personal injury ruined his business ventures, he made an unsuccessful public appeal for financial help; he died in the Sydney Benevolent Society Asylum.
