The Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of Victoria and Tasmania was formed in 2002 by a merger of the Synod of Victoria and the Synod of Tasmania. There are six synods throughout Australia, which meet together every eighteen months to two years. The Synod of Victoria and Tasmania meets every eighteen months. Each Synod has a General Secretary who acts as an executive officer providing General Leadership as well as fulfilling a pastoral and advisory role.;;The Uniting Church Synod of Victoria and Tasmania is divided into eight presbyteries. The presbyteries have some administrative oversight of the congregations in their region. There is one Presbytery in Tasmania, the Presbytery of Tasmania, which is the administative body of the Synod in Tasmania.
