St Giles Home for Crippled Children was founded in 1939 to support children with polio and other physical disabilities providing them with medical treatment, schooling, and residential care. The Launceston General Hospital provided staff and medical support to St Giles Home.;;The Society for the Care of Crippled Children purchased a house in Amy Road, Newstead (Waterworth House previously known as Stratford House), and equipment. They renamed this place St Giles (after the patron saint of cripples). The Premier Ogilvie opened the St Giles' Home on 8th March 1939.;;The Tasmanian Archives holds no records for this agency.
