In 1841, Joseph Allport went into partnership with John Roberts and formed the legal practice Allport & Roberts. In March 1844 Henry Dobson engaged Joseph Allport and his partner John Roberts as his attorneys. In 1845, the firm was appointed as solicitors to the Hobart Savings Bank.;;Joseph Allport was later joined in the practice of 'Allport & Roberts' by his sons Morton and Curzon, who were admitted to the Bar in 1852 and 1860 respectively. Morton joined the firm in 1855, when it became 'Allport, Roberts & Allport.';;;;
