Graeme Andrews has a long history of documenting water craft by taking photographs and later writing articles on related subjects. He has both taken and collected extensive photographs of a variety of ships and boats around Australia. He was born in Sydney and the bulk of his amassed collection relates to Sydney Harbour, however he photographs water craft around Australia. Mr Andrews worked in the Royal Australian Navy from 1955 to 1968 and the reserve from 1968 to 1980. He left the RAN as a Petty Officer. He also worked full-time as a journalist-photographer, and later as master of Manly and Sydney ferries, tugs and harbour craft. He has published a number of books of a maritime nature and has a Masters degree in Modern History from Macquarie University Mr Andrews has donated many photographs to instiutions around Australia.
