This was a program launched in Tasmania as a pilot in 1979. Its aim was to provide satisfying recreational oppportunities for retired individuals in the Tasmanian community. It was modelled on the program established in the United State of America. The organisation aimed to place volunteers with appropriate volunteer opportunities.;;The Devonport Branch of the Retired Senior Volunteers Programme (RSVP) was established in 1981 and launched on 23 February of that year, following preparatory work by a steering committee. A third branch was formed in Launceston in 1989.
