The Bridgewater Anglers Asociation began in 1913 and was re-constituted in 1936, (early records were destroyed by fire). Evidence for the 1913 date appear in the minutes of meeting of the Southern Tasmanian Anglers' Association held on 11 January 1913. ;;The 1936 objectives were stated as "the stocking of rivers and streams, preservation of fish and furthering the interests of angling matters generally".;;In 2019, the organisation focuses on the promotion of, and participation in, all forms of freshwaters angling.
