Description:
George Benjamin Davies was a Tasmanian photographer. He was the honorary secretary for the Southern Camera Club in the early 1920s, recording details in their minute book (1917-1922) and including newspaper clippings giving detailed coverage of club activities. Davies created stereoscopic photographs and glass lantern slides. He lived in Hobart until 1947 when he moved to Stanley in the North West. While in Hobart he lived with his parents, John Thomas Davies and Louisa Rebecca at 111 Patrick Street, West Hobart. In Stanley he worked as a law clerk for Kenric Laughton and his son Richard. Davies died at Smithton Hospital in 1964. Several portraits of G B Davies can be found in the series PH30.
