Lloyd Ashton Giblin was born in Hobart in 1914, the son of Ernest Robert Giblin and Lucy Ashton Henry. Lloyd Giblin had a lifelong interest in family history. He is related to the first Giblins who arrived in Tasmania in 1827 - including Thomas Giblin (NG985) and Robert Wilkins Giblin (1780-1845). This interest was enhanced by extended trips to Great Britain in 1965, 1971, 1975, and 1978.;;Lloyd married Gwendoline Nancy (Nan) Wilson in 1942. Together they had four daughters - Susan, Helen, Marie, and Jane. Professionally, Giblin was an accountant with the State Government, including the Hydro-Electric Commission. Lloyd Ashton Giblin passed away in May 2000.
