Jenny (Sarah Jane) Chester (nee Rattray) was a teacher and social advocate. During her time in Tasmania Jenny was actively involved in a range of social action groups. Prominent among these was the Contemporary Aboriginal Issues Group (Launceston), of which she was co-convener. Jenny was married to John Chester, and together they had three children - Jacob, Samuel and Polly. In the 2000s Jenny moved to Queensland where she continued her social activism including as part of the 'knitting nanas'. Jenny died in Queensland in 2017.
