William 'Bill' Field (1774-1837), convict, farmer, butcher and meat trader and settler, and his wife Elizabeth Richards (c.1785-1847), settled in Port Dalrymple in the early 19th century. William Field had arrived in NSW in 1806 as a convict per the Fortune. Elizabeth was also a convict, arriving in NSW 1806 per the Alexander. William and Elizabeth had five children - William (1816-1890), Thomas William (1817-1881), Richard (1820-1820), John (1821-1900), and Charles (1826-1857). The Field family became land holders, stockmen, and horse racers. Westfield, Pinefield and Calstock were properties owned by the Field family. Thomas William Field son of William and Elizabeth, was a member of the first Tasmanian Parliament (1856-62; 1875-81). Thomas and his wife, Elizabeth Lindsay (1826-1902, were based at Westfield, Westbury, Tasmania. William Enfield Field (1861-1931), son of Thomas and Elizabeth, married Frances Amelia 'Milly' Elmer (1869-1957) in 1896. They had one child Claudia Florence Westfield Field (1897-). The Fields lived at 'Roxford' on the Westfield estate, before moving to 'Dacam', 19 Upper Fenton St, Devonport. Claudia married Donald MacLean White in 1921.
