William Rose Watts (1807-1874) arrived in Hobart in 1831 as a convict per the Argyle. Caroline 'Carrie' (nee Mathews/Johnston) Watts (1816-1863) arrived from England to VDL per the Amelia Thompson in 1836. Carrie married William Rose in Longford and they had five children - William (1839-1854), Caroline (1838-1839), Lydia (b.1844), Susanah (1848-1836), and Mary Ann 'Polly' (b.1849). After Carrie's death, William moved to Victoria where he married Hannah Jane Burns (nee Lynch), and fathered two more children - James and Catherine Jane. Susanah Watts married Alfred 'George' David Kemp Elmer.
