Description:
Patrick (c.1829-) McCormack and his father Bernard (c.1804-) arrived in VDL as convicts per the Duke of Richmond. They had both been convicted and tried in Galway of horse stealing. Patrick McCormack received his certificate of freedom in 1853, and in 1855 he married Mary Urwin (b.1832), a free settler, at Richmond, Tasmania. Their daughter Mary was born a year later. Mary McCormack married Tasmanian William Goodwin (1848-1926) in Victoria in 1872. Mary and William Goodwin had a son James (1873-1935) in Victoria. James married Ellen Theresa Hartzer (1878-1912) in 1898 at Woodend, Victoria. James and Ellen's daughter Vera Goodwin (1906-1993) married Frank Thistleton Reay Dean (NG1950) in 1928. Frank and Vera lived in Melbourne before moving to Tasmania.
