Description:
William White (1820-1906), a farmer, arrived in VDL in 1824. He was an overseer and manager of several prominent properties in the north of the Tasmania including Patterson's Plains, Dunedin Estate, and Frondsley in Fingal. In 1852 he married Mary Ann Spence (1831-1899) at Launceston, and in 1860 the Whites took over their own property, 'Everton' at White Hills, Evandale. William and Mary Ann had ten children - William (b.1854), Mary Dean (1856-1916), Edwin Francis (1858-1936), Phillip Henry (1860-1928), Reuben (b.1864), Albert Edward (1866-1936), Emily Sarah (1866-1936), Flora Ann (1870-1896), Eliza Matilda (1862-1927), and Louise Elizabeth (1874-1943).;;Edwin Francis White married Marian MacLean (1857-1941) in 1892. Marian MacLean was the daughter of Donald and Margaret MacLean who emigrated to Tasmania from Scotland after the death of Donald's mother in 1857. They travelled with seven of Don's nine siblings and his father Donald Snr. Edwin and Marian had two sons - Eric Edwin (1898-1899) and Donald MacLean White (1895-1977). Donald M White married Claudia Florence Westfield Field (1897-1980) in 1921. Don and Claudia lived at "Bonnie Doon", Steele St, Devonport, and later at 67 Steel Street. Claudia and Donald had two children - Donald Francis Enfield White and Claudia Margaret White (known as Peggy). Peggy White married Adrian Dean in 1953 (see NG602). Donald F White served as a pilot with the RAAF Lancaster bombers during WWII and married Alice Alexandra Goodfellow in 1950.
