The presence of the church was established in Tasmania from 1854. Congregations were formed in Hobart in 1894 and in the Upper Huon in 1899.;;The Hobart Australia Stake, based at 13 Elmsleigh Rd, Moonah, is overseen by a President, 1st and 2nd Counsellors, an Executive Secretary, a State Clerk, Assistant Clerks, a Patriarch, and a Stake High Council. The Hobart Stake operates a range of committees such as a young womens, young mens, Relief Society, and Stake Mission Committee.;;The Hobart Stake includes five Wards - Derwent Ward (Montague Bay), Glen Huon Ward, Glenorchy Ward, Hobart Ward, and Howrah/Rosny Ward.
