Stephen Pigram was born in Sydney in 1955. He was educated at Fort Street Boy's High School and the University of Sydney. He moved to Hobart in 1978 where he worked as a journalist with the ABC and finished his career as Chief of Staff for ABC Tasmanian Television News.;;He was involved in wide range of causes, including urban planning and conservation, the gay rights movement, Save the State Cinema campaign and the Hobart Domain Defence League. In the 1980s he bought a house in Bayley Street in Hobart's Glebe and was one of the founders of the Glebe Progress Association.;;The collection (not yet processed Feb 2020) provides insights into life in Hobart, particularly progressive issues, from 1980 to the present as well as documenting the life of an interesting Hobartian.;;
