The South Channel Garden Club aims 'to promote and encourage practical horticulture',' to co-operate and affiliate with other approved bodies having similar aims for the interchange of horticultural knowledge, and to promote fellowship among garden lovers' and 'to arrange shows and visits' to further these objectives. The Club operates from the Eggs and Bacon Island Bay to Howden. As of 2020 to Club had over 110 members. The Club was established in 1970 with the initial aim of assisting property holders in the Middleton area to re-establish gardens destroyed in the 1967 bushfires.
