The Southern Tasmanian Playgroup Association is affiliated to a national body and is a not for profit organization. Playgroup Tasmania promotes playgroups as an opportunity for families to interact, grow, share experiences and learn through play.;;The Southern Association grew out of the general Association which was formed in 1973 but after rapid growth had to split into regions.;;;;
