Description:
William Crosby was a Hobart merchant and politician who established William Crosby & Co., importers, exporters and shipping agents in Salamanca Place in 1853. This business continued to run well into the 19th century. In 1885 Crosby was elected to the Legislative Council for the seat of Hobart which he held until his retirement in 1909. He died on 23 February 1910.
