Description:
K J Binns as born in New South Wales and studied economics at Melbourne University and Harvard University. He moved to Tasmania to take up a government appointment in 1939.;;He was Tasmanian's Under Treasurer and Commissioner for Taxes 1952 - 1974. He was also Deputy Chairman of the Library Board (and later Chairman) and the Tasmanian Government Insurance Office Board, Member of the Superannuation and Retirement Benefits Investment Fund Boards and the Treasurer's representative on the Board of Comalco.;;He also undertook a number of international secondments providing economic advice.
