Walter Wallace Knight was a miner, so was his father. He was born on the 24 February, 1892 to John Knight, miner, and his wife Margaret (nee Williams) of Brother's Home, Ringarooma district. On the 30 Dec 1914 he married Elfleda Beryl Batten at the Methodist Church, Zeehan. The Electoral Rolls for Zeehan between the years 1921 and 1925 record that he was a miner at Renison Bell. His wife performed 'home duties'.;;;;A 'silver wedding' announcement for the couple appeared in the 'Mercury' on the 30 December, 1939. It indicated that Walter Knight's parents now lived in New Norfolk and Walter and his wife resided at Fosters Gully, New Norfolk.;;;;An undated photographic negative envelope gives his address as 'W.W. Knight Grey Street, New Norfolk'.;;;;Walter Wallace Knight died on 17 Apr 1978 at the New Norfolk District hospital, the widow of Elfreda and the father of a daughter Margaret Thirza (deceased). He was the brother of Margaret (Mrs Eiszele, Snug, late of New Norfolk); Florrie (Mrs Anderson, Canada); Violet (Nell, Mrs Jolly, Glenorchy); Sam; Alfie; Bert; Herbert and Bill (all deceased). ;;;;He was cremated at Cornelian Bay cemetery and members of the Loyal Lawitta Lodge No 41 were requested to attend the funeral of their 'late brother PGM (Past Grand Master).;;;;His will ,dated 5 Jun 1976, gives his place of residence as Ironstone Gully, New Norfolk and he willed his estate, in most part, to the Independent Order of Oddfellows Grand Lodge of Tasmania.;;;;Walter Knight was 'Manager of the Peg Factory at New Norfolk' according to the donor of the photographs.
