Series notes:
Beatrice Butler (nee Travers) was the wife of Charles W. Butler, of Ashfield, Sandy Bay and the mother of Marjorie, Beatrice, Charles, Geoffrey, Leicester and James. The letters are mainly written to her daughter Beatrice between 21 December, 1908 to 10 Jan, 1910 (while Beatrice was travelling overeas) and 1914 to 1915 (while nursing in Melbourne) and to her son Jim between May and October, 1930. Other letters were written in 1926 and late 1940's, but many are not dated. The earliest letter is written to her sister Janet in 1883.
