A receipt book described as 'Deed Book No 2' containing descriptions and dates of deeds (often mortgage deeds but also including other family documents)) received by Arthur Perry, Solicitor accompanied sometimes by brief correspondence from the depositors containing their signatures and some explanation re the transations. Some of these entries seem to relate to the various documents in the series NS 2110 - NS 2114. Although the deed book dates from 21 March 1854, many of the entries for documents received describe documents that are much earlier. Arthur Perry died during this period and many of the deeds in his possession were then delivered to the depositors. The register may have served a purpose comparable to a 'safety deposit box' for important legal documents.
