Copyright in papers, including those authored by Ronald Edgar Smith, was not formally assigned to the State Archivist when bequeathed to the State Library and Archives of Tasmania in 1969. As the clear intent was for the papers to be available for access and use, the State Archivist permits appropriate copying for study and research.
