Most have messages but there are some that do appear to have simply been collected and there is evidence among the messages on one or two of the postcards that this was in fact a family interest - eg one sent to Miss O'May in 1906 with the message "another one for your book". In other cases people printed there own photos as postcards and sent these to the family
