Information Sources:
The depositor describes the provenance of the letters as 'belonging to a friend of mine (Barbara Miller) who looked after an old lady for more than 30 years and was left her house when she died. When she was clearing the house she found a small box with these letters and decided to keep them.' The name of 'the old lady' was 'Miss Lorraine Cromarty, 3 Heron Road, Meols, Wirral, Merseyside, UK.' indicating a link with the married name of the Rev Nicholson's niece Agnes (Mrs John Cromarty) to whom most of the letters are written.
