Series notes:
Claudio Alcorso spent time in various internment camps in Australia during World War 2. These include Orange Aug 1940 to 13 Oct 1940, Hay 13 Oct 1940 to 11 Jun 1941, Loveday 11 Jun 1941 to 12 Dec 1941, Tatura 12 Dec 1941 to 29 Jan 1942, Loveday 29 Jan 1942 to 9 Oct 1943, Wayville South Australian 9 Oct 1943 from where he was released. This series includes correspondence, papers and evidence statements regarding his internment and official documents from the National Archives of Australia. In the 1980s Claudio Alcorso appealed to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal for the release of sensitive documents relating to his internment. Some of the evidence has been edited to protect the identity of those providing statements against Claudio Alcorso and his brother Orlando. It is interesting to note that Claudio Alcorso was jewish from his mother's side and was part of Italia Libera which was an antifascist movement.

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
