Series notes:
Correspondence, minutes and associated papers from the Industrial Relations Office of the Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company. The organisational structure of the company did change over time but generally the Industrial Relations Office was placed near or directly under the supervision of the General Manager. The Industrial Relations Manager was primarily responsible for Industrial Affairs but also Community Services, Personnel and Apprentices. This series contains a range of communication between the Company, unions, individuals and organisations.

Copies of minutes and memos were circulated to the various sections of the Company resulting in duplication. Where possible duplicates have been identified and removed and the name of the manager has been indicated.
