How to Use:
The scrapbook appears to have been in private hands for many years before being passed to AOT from the Society of St Vinvent de Paul in Hobart in 2008, where it had been received among its donated items from an unknown source.
Series notes:
A 'Sketch Book' ring bound scrapbook of 36 pages compiled and signed by Grade IV students of the George Town District School, comprising individual compositions on the history of the region ( Colonel Patterson's Monument; George Town Memorial Hall; Macquarie Street, George Town; Lagoon Beach; Low Head Lighthouse; Bell Bay; Comalco; Beauty Point; Tamar River and Tamar Valley; Hillwood district; Mt Direction lookout; Port Dalrymple; Lefroy; Piper's River; Piper's Brook; Back Creek, house; "The Grove" home of Surgeon Dr, Jacob Mountgarrett (with sketch); ferry "Miss Dalrymple"; house "Tara Hall"; "Cable House" and "Cable Station" accompanied by children's sketches, but also including several (7) professional black and white photographs of the area; x4 original apple case labels and some plant pressings of local flora.
