Series notes:
A photograph with the inscription 'Government House Literary Society, taken Thursday 12.12.1859'. The event depicts a gathering at Government House . Lady Hamilton, wife of the Governor of Tasmania Sir Robert Hamilton, had invited a group of women to Government House, Hobart with a view to forming a literary society for women for mutual pleasure and intellectual profit.
