Series notes:
A series of four distinct record sets - records of John Walker and his Mill / records of Rossbank Observatory / records of Bank of VDL / and records of the Derwent Bank. The Walker and bank items are most likely tied together because John Walker was, at various times, a director of the Derwent Bank, Bank of Van Diemen's' Land and Bank of Australasia and probably had these items in his custody. The Rossbank Observatory records have no connection with the Walker records. They were merely stored with the Walker records at the store of the Royal Society.
There is a relationship between this series and papers in the W. L. Crowther Library and papers in the Royal Society, University of Tasmania.

This 'series' comprises a group of records transferred together prior to the implementation of the Series System of arrangement for non-government records deposited in the Archives Office of Tasmania. As such, the items are listed sequentially and there is no series arrangement.
