Series notes:
Individual glass pate negatives, printed and digitised from the negatives.

The collection was purchased at Johnson Bros., Auctioneers, Main Road, Glenorchy by the Archives Office of Tasmania in 1974. The images were unidentified and there was no information on their provenance.

The series has been attributed to C. P. Ray because it was observed that many identical images appeared in the 'Tasmanian Mail' , a weekly publication by the Hobart 'Mercury', and C. P. Ray was identified as the photographer.

This series may also contain some negatives collected from other photographers who also worked for newspapers like the Tasmanian Mail e.g. W. Williamson (see NS392/1/341).
