Series notes:
These work/job files contain all or some of the following components: specifications, plans, contracts, working drawings, photographs, notes, product brochures, correspondence and job administration material.

These records are very comprehensive and provide evidence of how a private consultant architect worked in the twentieth-century.

There is no job register and no numerical or alphabetical arrangement. The files were titled by the address and/or the name of the client. This forms the basis of the item listing here.

Where photographs are included these have been mentioned specifically in the item description but are treated as part of the file and they are not numbered individually.

The early works were undertaken mostly when Barry McNeill was part of the firm Cooper and Vincent (c.1956-1966).

Also in this series are planning appeal files where Barry was contracted to write a report, give advice or participate in the appeal process, sometimes as a member of the Planning Appeal Board (and its later iterations).

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
System of Arrangement:
Organised by job and client and by size of the project documentation - roughly chronological. Various sizes of the items means there is two roughly chronological runs of material - one at A4 size and one at A3 size. The A3 size comprises mainly drawings and oversized documentation.;;Oversized plans kept by themselves will be found in series NS4634.;;Often there will be both an A4 and also an A3 sized file for a job.
