How to Use:
Copyright in the recordings (NS584; NS404) and transcripts (NS568, NS6850) rests with the donor. Copyright will pass to the State Archivist on 1/1/2040 as per agreement with the donor.

By agreement, the State Archivist can authorise publication of records in NS404, NS568, NS584, and NS6850, with a requirement that any publication include acknowledgement to Nancie Hewitt as the creator of the transcripts and recordings.
Series notes:
Typescripts of oral history recordings and letters. The typescripts were made by Nancie Hewitt in 1975.

The first transcript is spread across two volumes, with an introduction and five sections (described below). A word processed version of this transcript was created by MArleen Van den Bosch and Nancie's son Michael in 2003. It can be found at series NS6850. The second transcript is of the diary of Frank Hood's sister Mildred and letters from his father (Charles) to his mother (Sarah)

Introduction: 3p. [Volume 1]

Section 1: Reminiscences of Frank Hood, Orford, 1974. (Starts "In the closing chapter of mother's records'", ends "I'm sitting up late, in an almost bare kitchen writing my daily records, the last on the old place". (85p.) [Volume 1]

Section 2: Reminiscences of Frank Hood, Maria Island, 1974. [From records written at the time; starts at 'East Risdon, November 25th, 1919', ends April 15th "But we were safe" Page 1-40. [Volume 1]

Section 3: No title. Starts, Page 1 "April 1920, It was not long before we drew into Spring Bay Jetty"; ends p.59 "April 23 1922 - so we are pulling them down and putting up new ones". [Volume 1]

Section 4A: No title. Starts, Page 1 "April 1922. Talk about the braken ferns; ends page 185 "Dec 21st 1934, So it will be a nice help". [Volume 1]

Section 4B: starts "January 1935 "Today it has rained all day in torrents" p.186-592; ends "July 21 1975, I know that God made them all, and there needs to be no dispute". [Volume 2]

Section 5 Letters of Charles Hood to Sarah Bond from 22/6/1885 - 9/9/1887. 21p. [This section is retyped at the end of item NS568/1/3]. [Volume 2]
