This series records the process of paper counting which was an integral part of the post-production process and involved counting paper sheets for packing into into reams that were then sold. This was piece work and the workers, largely women, were paid per ream wrapper. An associated job was sorting, which involved sorting and fanning the papers prior to counting. Each sorter and counter had a unique number and dockets recording counter and sorter numbers accompanied the reams so that employees were kept accountable for their work.
