Series notes:
This series comprises a set of photographs which document the hand making of crayfish pots by Paul "Podge" Brown (d. 2015), assisted by Steve Keogh (d. 2017) in 2002. This took place at the home of Michael and Kaye Britton, Marrawah Road near Smithton.

Each photograph has a brief description on the back. Activities undertaken include: steaming the tea tree pot sticks, putting the neck in, working with pot wires, building the body with the wires, "running off a pot" and putting the bottom in. There are 25 accompanying 35mm negatives.

The photographer was given free access to take the photographs and they record craftsmen at work following particular steps and procedures necessary to create cray pots.

There are some additional photographs related to the crayfishing industry, also described on the back. They include Port Temma and two boats, "Jasmine Hardy" and "Miss Temma". There is an earlier photograph taken by the photographer's uncle, George Blythe, of the Strahan fishing boat, "Karina', dated 1974.

These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
