Series notes:
The photographs were donated without any record of provenance, other than the name "L McGowan, Queenstown" inscribed on the inside front page accompanied by a photograph of what was assumed to be the photographer. Comparison of that photograph with the one published in the Weekly Courier on 24 July 1913, at the time of McGowan's death, confirmed that the "L. McGowan" was indeed Leonard McGowan. His father Robert was a hotel-keeper in Deloraine and Queenstown which accounts for the photographs of those areas in this series.
