Louis Manton Shoobridge married Amy Lidbetter, daughter of Thomas and Deborah Lidbetter on 27 September 1876. The correspondence illustrates Louis' love for Amy and provides an insight into his farming life at the Shoobridge Bushy Park property.

The letters were originally folded into bundles and tied with cotton, presumably by Amy. For preservation and access reasons, the letters have been placed into acid free folders and interleaved with archival paper. The exact order has been maintained.
