Series notes:
This series consists of photographs from the Civil Engineering and Mechanical Branches of AN Tasrail. It includes both technical and promotional material. There are black and white, colour and hand tinted photographs and safety colour movie film. The subject matter includes the permanent way in both Tasmania and elsewhere, trains (including the Tasman Limited ) and railway sites in Tasmania, work sites and practices and events connected with the railways (such as unloading steam trains at the waterfront in Hobart and the demolition of the water and coal loading facility at the Launceston rail yards). There are also staff groups photographed at social functions and at Christmas time. Many of the photographs were collected from the office of the Civil Engineer after his retirement in 1990 and during the move from the Invermay Railway Workshops to East Tamar.
These records are part of the holdings of the Tasmanian Archives
