This series consists of sketch books of surveys of Tasmanian Government Railways station yards and sidings along the North East, North West, Derwent Valley, Chudleigh, Apsley and Main lines. They were undertaken in the mid 1930's by the then Surveyor in Hobart, Mr C E Baird.

There are 8 sketch books in this series that contain sketches of station yards, 4 are preliminary sketches done in pencil while the other 4 are coloured pen drawings done from the preliminary sketches. There is a further bundle of brown pen sketches of various station yards and a notebook used as a list of related drawings, contract volumes and level books.
