How to Use:
The folders are a labelled according to subject with an alphabetical prefix on the spine of the folder. The prefixes and subjects are: A - Asset Works, C - Rolling Stock (other than locomotives), H - Mechanical Handling and Containers, L - Locomotives, M - Miscellaneous, P - Photographs, Drawings and Information and S - Safety. The form consists of the job number, date, relevant drawing number if any, particulars of the job, the part of the Workshop that the job was allocated to, a file reference and a remarks column.
Series notes:
This series consists of Registers of jobs coordinated by the Production Office of the Tasmanian Government Railways/ later AN Tasrail. The Production Office consisted of four or so administrative staff and was in charge of coordinating production of items of equipment required by the railways and also of orders taken from outside of the railways. AN Tasrail disbanded it shortly after the takeover of the Tasmanian Government Railways. The Registers are on a printed form contained within six spring back folders. Occasionally, there is a drawing or note with remarks about the design or method of manufacture of a particular item attached to the folder.
