Description:
The Office was created to provide an administrative identity for the Solicitor-General within the Law Department. On 29 June 1983 the Solicitor-General became a Statutory Officer outside the State Service Act and the former Solicitor-General's Department was abolished from that date. (The staff had been transferred to the Law Department on 15 March.) Between 1983 and 1993 the Solicitor-General was the Administrator of the Tasmanian Film Corporation.~
